Project2Manage is a project management application. Users may create project files and depending on the capacity allowed by the chosen plan, upload pertinent files to share with others. The file sharing capacity is the most valuable feature of this program. Message board, to do list, milestones, and spot2jot are basic communication mechanisms. Without the ability to upload files provided in the pay plans, this website has little to offer.Show more screenshots »
There is no About Us section, nor is there information readily available about the history of Project2Manage or its developers. According to compete.com, the site has an average of 2,000 unique visitors per month.
Project2Manage has been compared to Basecamp. The interface is less visually appealing than Basecamp as well as less intuitive. There have been many mentions of the fact that Project2Manage has a free plan, where Basecamp does not, however the free plan is so limited, it is barely useful. Project2Manage has fewer options and is more difficult to use. The “tour” on the front page of the site is simply a slideshow, where Basecamp provides video tutorials. A video tour was recently added to Project2Manage, but rather than being easily accessed, it is posted on the blog page of the site, where users may not find it.
The interface is uncluttered but not necessarily intuitive. The dashboard shows all current projects and activity on the selected job. The message area allows communication and comments. To do lists may be created and assigned to individuals who may then check off items as they are completed. The Spot2Jot section is for collaboration. In contrast to the message area, users may edit the original Spot2Jot entry. File hosting ability, available with paid accounts, seems to be the key component to this application. There are no free trials to test the file sharing component of the application, so it is difficult for potential users to assess the value to their particular business.
In order to use Project2Manage, users choose a free or paid plan. Members then choose a domain name (xxx.project2manage.com) and username, add an email address, choose a password, and enter a company name. A welcome email is sent, but no account validation is required. The registration process is fast and simple.
Project2Manage has several plan options. The free plan has few options and is quite restrictive. There is no ability to file share, which is the most beneficial feature of the site. The remaining plans range from $3.95-74.95/month. Each plan has a prescribed number of total allowable projects and storage volume. Note that the free plan does not have any storage capability and can only be used for one project.
Businesses with geographically widespread branches may benefit from the ability to share files for individual projects. The application provides a single place for communication and information sharing regarding projects, though true interactive, real time collaboration is not an option.
